Almaty. November 29. Silkroadnews - North Korea launched a ballistic missile in direction of Japan, the Kazakh Telegraph Agency (KazTAG) reports with reference to BBC Russian Service.
North Korea launched another ballistic missile towards Japan. The authorities of South Korea were the first who reported on the launch, later information was confirmed by Japan and the United States, the statement said on Wednesday.
According to the Pentagon, the rocket flew around a thousand kilometers before falling in the Sea of Japan. The South Korean military reported, the missile reached an altitude of 4,500 km.
“Japanese officials said the projectile travelled for about 50 minutes - but did not fly over Japan, as some have done in the past - and landed about 250km off its northern coast,” the report says.
The president of South Korea Mun Zhe Ying has decided to convene an emergency meeting of Council of national security to discuss the issue.
The previous missile test Pyongyang carried out in mid-September. According to experts, the rocket reached an altitude of about 770 km and flew nearly 3,700 km. It passed over the Japanese island of Hokkaido before falling into the Pacific Ocean.
Shortly before this, in early September, the DPRK announced the creation of a hydrogen bomb to be installed on ballistic missiles. Soon after that the country has carried out nuclear tests. Nevertheless, many experts doubt the DPRK does have thermonuclear weapons.
Earlier this summer, the DPRK held several launches of ballistic missiles saying the missile could have reached the United States if fired on a normal trajectory. Still the experts suggest the most of the North Korean missiles have a low accuracy and cannot hit the target.
The United States and North Korea’s neighbors have condemned the tests of North Korea’s missiles, and the angry rhetoric between the US and North Korea has become tougher. President of the United States Donald Trump said last launch was a reckless and dangerous act by the North Korean regime.
In August, the US media reported the DPRK could have succeeded in development of a warhead for installation on ballistic missiles. After that, Trump threatened the DPRK with “fire and fury” if Pyongyang would take the risk of threatening the United States.
In response, North Korean state media circulated a statement saying Pyongyang was considering the possibility of a missile strike at the US military bases on Guam Island in the western Pacific.
