Number of victims of the Taliban attack in the east of Afghanistan has exceeded 40 people

Almaty. October 18. Silkroadnews - The number of victims of the attack on the police department in the city of Gardez, capital of the eastern province of Paktia, reached 41 people, about 160 were injured, the Afghan Telegraph Agency (AfTAG) reports.
Earlier the report said about 20 people dead and some from 70 to 160 injured.
The attack left 21 police officers killed, among them police chief Brigadier-General Toryali Abdiani, and 48 wounded, as for civilians of the city of Gardez, 20 people were killed and 110 injured, Deputy interior minister for security Murad Ali Murad told.
The attack occurred on Tuesday morning in the administrative center of Paktia province in the east of the country. The attackers used a truck and an armoured vehicle to carry out the bomb attack. Special police units overpowered five attackers.
Near the police department there was an explosion, after which a fight began between the militants and the security forces, which ended by the liquidation of five militants.
The Taliban radical movement said it was behind the attack.
