Olympic Truce Wall opened at PyeongChang Olympic Village
Beijing. February 5. Silkroadnews - The Olympic Truce Wall was opened at the PyeongChang Olympic Village, the Kazakh Telegraph Agency (KazTAG) reports with reference to TASS.
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach took part in the ceremony of unveiling of the Olympic Truce Wall at the Olympic Village in South Korean PyeongChang, where the Winter Games to start on February 9. The mural, 6.5 meters long and 3 meters high, symbolizes the peace and end of wars, which is one of the oldest traditions of the Olympic Games, the report said on Monday.
It is noted that during the games, which will last till February 25, athletes living in the Olympic Village are welcome to share their messages of peace on the Wall, designed by Korean artist Yi Je-seok.
The symbolism of the story is added by the fact of the DPRK athletes taking part in the forthcoming Olympic competition, with a women ice hockey team of the DPRK fielding a unified team with the team of the Republic of Korea.
The ХХІІІ Winter Olympic Games will be held in Pyeongchang (South Korea), from February 9 to February 25, 2018. More than 2.9 thousand athletes and officials from more than 95 countries of the world are expected to take part in the competitions and events.
