Bishkek. June 3. Silkroadnews – Religious leaders from Osh call for prohibition of “posh” weddings and funerals. This was reported by the chairman of the spiritual board of Muslims for the City of Osh, Abaydulla Aji Sarybayev.
Representatives of the Board of Muslims, city authorities, public servants and MPs participated in the meeting that called for prohibition of “posh” weddings and funerals. Quran does not order excessive spending on weddings and funerals, as religious leaders noticed. Their call was supported by the MPs and local residents.
This initiative is to be “exported” to the other districts of the province. Religious leaders are against “posh” celebrations, as this heavy financial burden remains on family’s shoulders for a long time. Hence, the special commission is to be created to oversight local celebrations and funerals.
