Almaty. April 1. Silkroadnews - Parliamentary elections in Afghanistan will be held next year, reported Afghan News Agency (AfTAG).
This was stated by the Second Vice-President of the Republic Sarva Danish Danish, representing members of the lower house of parliament - the Wolesi Jirga, 16 new candidates to the Cabinet. According to him, the national unity government hopes that parliamentary elections will be transparent in the next year, after the reform of the electoral system.
According S.Danish, created a special committee on electoral reform, and it is currently working on a solution to this problem.
The five-year term of deputies expires in mid-June of this year, and the newly elected legislators must be sworn in accordance with the Afghan constitution.
The urgent need to reform the electoral system showed the last presidential election, which became famous for large-scale fraud in the second round and nearly brought the country to the brink of civil war. Only the intervention of the US State Department - the main sponsor of the security forces of IRA - allowed the parties to reach a compromise and form a national unity government.
