Power plants worth a total of $50 million to be built in the provinces of Afghanistan within four years

Almaty. June 8. Silkroadnews – Within the next four years it is planned to allocate $50 million for the construction of power plants on renewable energy sources in 17 provinces of the country, the funds will allow to realize 25 projects, the Afghan Telegraph Agency (AfTAG) reports.
The program was launched in January 2016 to facilitate the rural areas’ economic development.
It is noted, the construction of small hydropower plants and solar-powered power plants with a capacity of one megawatt is planned. A total of 56 projects are planned in 32 provinces. In particular, it is planned to build 13 stations on solar batteries and 12 hydroelectric power stations.
The funds to implement the program ($50 million) will come from foreign international organizations. Besides, South Korea will allocate $5 million and another $2 million will be provided by China.
The program is expected to contribute to create additional jobs in rural areas, especially for young people.
