Beijing. June 18. Silkroadnews - China offered Japan and South Korea to hold another trilateral meeting in Beijing in December to discuss the situation around the DPRK, the Kazakh Telegraph Agency (KazTAG) reports with reference to TASS.
According to Kyodo news agency referred to diplomatic sources, the meeting is expected to be held with participation of Premier Li Keqiang, South Korean President Moon Jae-in and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. In May they held a meeting in Tokyo, yet Beijing believes the rapid development of the situation around the DPRK requires new consultations at the high level.
The Chinese authorities, the agency believes, intend to strengthen their influence on the Pyongyang’s nuclear missile program elimination processes and demonstrate their close relations with South Korea and Japan amid trade conflict with Washington.
To remind, on June 12, 2018, the U.S. President Donald Trump and leader of the DPRK Kim Jong-un held a meeting in Singapore. The joint document they have signed says, in particular, about Pyongyang’s readiness to undertake complete denuclearization of the Korean peninsula, while the U.S. pledged to provide North Korea with security guarantees, which have not been specified though.
