Almaty. July 3. Silkroadnews - Preliminary results of the presidential elections in Afghanistan may be announced on July 7, transmits Afghan News Agency (AfTAG).
According to the head of the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) Ahmad Yusef Nuristani, "this decision is aimed at ensuring maximum transparency and legitimacy of the elections".
Started indirect talks between the favorite of the first round of the presidential race by former Minister of Foreign Abdullah Abdullah and his rival, former Minister of Finance Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai. Thus, the Afghan government and international organizations are trying to reduce the increasing with each passing day tension around the election of candidates and get a guarantee that they recognize the results of the vote on June 14.
Under Afghan law, for victory in the second round of the presidential election it is enough to get a simple majority. In the current situation, the election results will depend on the results of the investigation of violations. Final results of voting is scheduled to announce on July 22. Thus on August 2 is already scheduled inauguration of the new president.
