Almaty. December 15. Silkroadnews - The President of Iran called for long-term cooperation with Turkey in the fight against terrorism, the Iranian Telegraph Agency (IrTAG) reported referring to Tasnim News Agency.
“Iranian President Hassan Rouhani called for long-term cooperation with neighboring Turkey in the fight against terrorism, stressing the need for constant coordination to ensure peace and security in Syria,” the report said.
“The regional countries, particularly Turkey and Iran, should develop long-term cooperation in the region in the fight against terrorism,” Hassan Rouhani noted.
According to him, Tehran and Ankara share the views on contribution to regional stability and fight against terrorism and they should continue to cooperate to strengthen security and stability in Syria.
“The Sochi summit proved that with each other's cooperation positive steps can be taken towards solving the region’s problems,” Iran’s president added, referring to the November meeting on peace in Syria.
He also criticized the U.S. for opposing the Muslim world, recognizing the city of al-Quds (Jerusalem) as the new capital of Israel, saying that the results of the extraordinary meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Istanbul are a source of hope for Muslims around the world.
For his part, the Turkish president expressed the hope that the unity of the Islamic countries will help to restore the rights of the Palestinians.
Erdogan also stressed the need for closer ties with Iran in various fields, saying that regional states should unite their forces to defeat terrorism.
