Presidential elections in Kyrgyzstan to be brought forward from November to October

Almaty. May 30. Silkroadnews - The Zhogorku Kenesh Committee on Constitutional Law, the System of Government, the Rule of Law, Judicial and Legal Reform approved amendments to the law “On Elections of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic and Deputies of the Zhogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic” in the third reading, KyrTAG writes.
After reviewing and discussing the amendments to the law at the meeting of the committee the deputies decided to approve the amendments and submit them to the chamber in the third reading.
According to the document, the date of presidential elections is proposed to be brought forwards to October 15, 2017, instead of November 19, 2017, as was reported earlier.
The draft law also provides to raise the electoral threshold for political parties from 7 to 9%.
