Presidents of Iran and Turkmenistan decided to intensify bilateral cooperation

Almaty. September 12. Silkroadnews - Iranian President Hassan Rouhani held talks with the head of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in Dushanbe, reported the Iranian News Agency (IrTAG) on Friday.
The Heads of State reaffirmed their mutual interest in further development of close relations between Iran and Turkmenistan.
In particular, the Iranian leader pointed to the long-standing historical and cultural ties between the peoples of the two neighboring countries and called for increased of trade and economic ties between Tehran and Ashgabat.
According to him, with the commissioning of the railway Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran will be created additional opportunities for expanding and deepening economic cooperation between the countries of the region.
H.Ruhani added that the territory of Iran could serve as a reliable transport corridor for the transit of goods from Central Asia, including Turkmenistan, to the waters of the Persian Gulf.
In turn, the Turkmen leader expressed his country's willingness to expand economic cooperation with the Islamic Republic. Berdymukhamedov identified areas of energy, trade and infrastructure projects as the most promising areas for enhanced cooperation between the two countries.
Recall, the head of Iran arrived in Dushanbe on an official visit on September 10.
