Prosecutor’s office asks for USD 1.8 mln found at Marat Bakiyev’s safe to be transferred to Kyrgyzstan

Bishkek. April 28. Silkroadnews – Kyrgyz Prosecutor’s Office asks for the money found in the safe of former President’s son to be transferred to the State. The representative of Prosecutor’s office said in court.
“We are asking for USD 1 890 000 found in Marat Bakiyev’s safe to be transferred to the state, as illegally earned money”, the prosecutor said.
When Presidential Office was searched during April events, 11 139 090 soms, USD 52 887, 25 340 euro, 44 384 Russian Rubbles, 52 520 Belorussian Rubbles, 1 250 Czech korunas, 104 Czech Korunas in change and 2 200 Hungarian forints were found in the safe. All the found money are stored in the Kyrgyz National Bank.
Bishkek Garrison Court is currently holding a hearing related to the 7th of April, 2010 events. 87 people were shot and over 300 wounded in front of the government building back then. The case has 28 defendants in total. 9 of them are on the run. This includes former President Kurmanbek Bakiyev, his close relatives and confidants.
