Reconciliation with Taliban should not mean infringement of human rights: Prime Minister of Afghanistan said
Beijing. June 28. Silkroadnews - Reconciliation with the Taliban does not imply a rejection of human rights in Afghanistan, the Afghan Telegraph Agency (AfTAG) quoted the country’s Prime Minister Abdullah Abdullah saying.
The prime minister stressed, changes within the Afghan society are possible only if considered as due and necessary by the Afghan people.
He also assured, Afghanistan will not go back to the medieval times, when both men and women were deprived of basic human rights, and women also did not have the opportunity to get education and medical assistance, as well as were not allowed to take part in political life.
The statement was made as a summing up of the recent truce with the Taliban. Optimism comes side-by-side with fear of possible concessions for the sake of compromise.
The prime minister also noted, the truce allowed the Taliban to see the goodwill of the people and their desire for peace.
