Reduced activity was observed in the second round of the presidential elections in Afghanistan

Almaty. June 16. Silkroadnews - The reduce of electoral activity was observed in the second round of the presidential elections in Afghanistan, reported the Afghan news agency (AfTAG).
But Chairman of the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) Ahmad Yusef Nuristani expressed his satisfaction with the level of public participation in the final round of the presidential elections.
«Wу had less fraud because observers from two candidates, along with the media, international observers and civil society institutions and employees of NEC were present all the time», ¬ he added. He also mentioned the decrease of complaints during the second round.
Meanwhile, it is reported that during the presidential elections gunmen had performed nearly 150 attacks. Security forces prevented about 473 preparing sabotage.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, all attacks were carried out before 14.00 pm of the local time. Two policemen were killed, three wounded, 15 civilians injured. Security forces killed 12 Taliban fighters, 13 are wounded.
Meanwhile «Taliban» grouping recognized 639 attacks in different areas during the last round of the day.
It also informs about the clash between supporters of presidential candidates and Abdullah and Ahmadzai took place in Jalalabad, East of Afghanistan, two people killed, one injured.
Recalling on June 14 Afghanistan held the second round of presidential elections. Voting ended at 16.00 pm of the local time (17.30 in Astana). There are two main candidates for the presidential position ¬ Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdullah Abdullah and Former Minister of Finance Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai. They scored in the first round 44.9% and 31.5% of the vote respectively.
Preliminary data on the election results will be published on July 2.
