Resolving global crises costed $233 billion in past 10 years

Beijing. March 6. Silkroadnews - The cost of settling world crises made $233 billion in the past 10 years was, the Kazakh Telegraph Agency (KazTAG) reports with reference to TASS.
“We are witnessing unnecessary human suffering on a scale that is hard to comprehend. In the past 10 years, the international community spent $233 billion on humanitarian response, peacekeeping and hosting refugees,” António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations said.
“Instead of responding to crises, we need to invest far more in prevention,” he stressed citing the results of the joint study the UN conducted with the World Bank, according to which effective preventive measures could allow the world community to save up to $70 billion a year.
The Peacebuilding Fund is a critical tool in our efforts to achieve this, A. Guterres added.
Addressing members of the General Assembly on Monday, A. Guterres called the participants states to support the UN recommendations aimed at overcoming the fragmentation and making the UN system work together more effectively.
