Results of the negotiations between the president and prime minister of Afghanistan to be announced in early October
Almaty. September 14. Silkroadnews – The results of closed-door talks between Afghan President Ashraf Ghani and Prime Minister Abdullah Abdullah to resolve the political crisis in the country will be announced in October, AfTAG reports.
«Details of the agreements reached between President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani and Prime Minister Abdullah Abdullah will be announced after the meeting of donor countries of Afghanistan to be held in Brussels on October 4-5», the publication says.
To remind, the political crisis in the higher echelons of power in Kabul arose after Prime Minister strongly criticized the President for not consulting with him when making important government decisions.
Against this background some politicians, such as former President Hamid Karzai, demanded to convene the Loya Jirga to solve all the problems related to the central government.
In particular, the point in case is about amendment to the Constitution with adding an article on the prime minister position legitimization, as the parties agreed in the course of a political agreement in 2014.
Until now, this position Abdullah Abdullah serves in is called the «chief executive».
On October 4-5 Brussels will host the ministerial conference of donor countries of Afghanistan with participation of the EU countries. It will bring together a total of about 70 countries and 30 international organizations.
