Russia and China could open a border crossing checkpoint on Bolshoi Ussuriisky island

Almaty. August 8. Silkroadnews – Russia and China consider the possibility of opening the border checkpoint on Bolshoi Ussuriysky island (Heixiazi Island) on the Amur River, “China Daily” writes.

“Russia has suggested (to create) border checkpoints”, the newspaper quoted Zhou Hong, director of the Heixiazi Island Development and Management Committee, saying.

According to him, this will allow small cars to travel between Khabarovsk and Fuyuan (Heilongjiang province, northeast of China). Hong Zhou said the new checkpoints would handle up to 2 million passenger flow a year.
Bolshoi Ussuriysky island is located on the Amur River below the mouth of the Ussuri. It was divided between Russia and China. Border demarcation was completed in 2008.
