Almaty. April 14. Silkroadnews – Russia and China have submitted to the UN Security Council draft resolution to prohibit the chemical weapons in territory of Syria, the UN news center informs.

“We believe there is a gap in the documents adopted by the Security Council on the terrorists’ use of chemical weapons in Syria ... We did not make provisions for cases if terrorists start producing such weapons ... The resolution prepared by China and Russia is very simple – it just eliminates the gap existing,” the Russian ambassador to the UN Vitaly Churkin said.

According to him, the draft document provides for specific measures to eliminate the threat of chemical weapons widespread use. In particular, all the countries bordering with Syria are offered to report to the Security Council on all the identified facts and actions of “non-state agencies operating with chemical weapons and delivery means of such weapons”.

V. Churkin noted this will allow the UN Security Council to get full information on the ways through which the toxic substances fall into the hands of terrorists, thus, prevent new threats.
