Beijing. March 20. Silkroadnews - Russia and China opposed the UN Security Council meeting on human rights in Syria, the Kazakh Telegraph Agency (KazTAG) reported citing the Izvestia newspaper.
Representatives of Russia and China blocked the UN Security Council meeting on human rights in Syria, the report said.
The meeting’s initiative was supported by 8 states; 4 states, including Russia and China, blocked the initiative; 3 members of the Security Council abstained from voting.
China’s representative said all the UN structures have their functions, and everyone should do their duty.
The meeting was initiated by the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Peru, Poland, the United States, France and Sweden.
