Russia and China to strengthen measures to create a free trade area in the Asia-Pacific region, Xi Jinping said

Almaty. November 21. Silkroadnews – During the meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the APEC summit in Lima Chinese President Xi Jinping said China and Russia should contribute to the process of building the Asia-Pacific Region (APR) Free Trade Zone, Russian media report.

“Russia is an important participant in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC). Both sides should strengthen cooperation within the forum framework, successfully implement the important arrangements reached at the meeting this year, including the consensus reached in Beijing”, Xi Jinping said.

According to him, “two states should strengthen their measures to boost the process of creating a free trade zone within the AP region”.

The summit of leaders of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) is an international forum bringing together 21 leading economies of the world to cooperate for the region’s trade and economic development. The major objective of the APEC until 2020 was the creation of free and open trade and a liberal investment regime within the Asia-Pacific region.
