Almaty. December 22. Silkroadnews – Russia and Tajikistan have suspended air service as of Thursday, Trend reports.

As noted, “air service between Russia and Tajikistan was suspended as of 12:00 a.m. on December 22”.

Earlier Russia’s Ministry of Transport representatives said about a possible suspension in air service with Tajikistan starting from December 22, unless Tajikistan’s aviation authorities fulfill their obligations under agreements signed by two states’ aviation authorities. The case is about granting flight permission to “Yamal” Airline designated by the Russian side to perform flights on the route between Zhukovsky International Airport and Dushanbe and Khujand.

Later Tajikistan’s Ministry of Transport officials said they do not think it possible to permit “Yamal” performing flights to their country from Moscow Zhukovsky Airport this winter.

Earlier the Tajik side supported their refusal referring to the lack of parity. On Tuesday the Minister of Transport of Tajikistan Sherali Gandzhalzoda said that, according to intergovernmental agreement, all the flights must be performed on a parity basis, and Dushanbe is satisfied with the number of flights from the Zhukovsky airport.

According to him, Tajik air carriers are not yet ready to perform the third flight from Zhukovsky.
