Russia, China and Mongolia to sign agreement on the transport corridor to be created till the end of the year
Almaty. September 28. Silkroadnews – The interstate agreement on the transport corridor between Russia and China through Mongolia is planned to be signed in December 2016, TASS reports.
«The signing is scheduled for December of this year. According to the preliminary estimates, up to 2020 the freight traffic is expected to grow 17-20% at the expense of the traffic flows redistribution on the new routes. In the future the growth is expected to reach up to 10% per year, which, as a whole, complies with the average annual growth in foreign trade between Russia and China», said Alexey Dvoynykh, CEO of Rosavtotrans.
The new transport corridor is supposed to shorten the distance from China to the south of the European part of Russia by 1.4 thousand km and reduce the travel time down to four days. Besides, there will be no bans for the Russian carriers' trucks to enter into the territory of the country that will allow not to change the carrier at the Chinese border.
In June 2016 the leaders of Russia, China and Mongolia – Vladimir Putin, Xi Jinping and Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj – following the results of the trilateral meeting adopted a program on building the economic corridor between the two countries.
