Almaty. March 30. Silkroadnews - During the upcoming three-way meeting in Baku the foreign ministers of Russia, Azerbaijan and Iran will discuss the development of “North-South” transport corridor, IrTAG reports with reference to the Russian mass-media.

In February the representative of the Iranian foreign ministry reported on the meeting of foreign ministers of the three countries to be held in Baku. According to him, the meeting agenda will include the focus on the implementation of the agreements reached at the meeting between the Iranian president Hassan Rouhani and president Ilham Aliyev.

The date and agenda of the visit of Russian foreign minister Sergey Lavrov in Baku is being worked out at the moment, said the official representative of the Russian foreign ministry Maria Zakharova last week.
“The main topics of discussion at the meeting will be questions of trilateral regional cooperation, in particular, the development of transport corridor “North-South” and other long-term projects,” said the press secretary of the Azerbaijani foreign ministry Hikmet Hajiyev.

The transport corridor “North-South” from Nhava Sheva (Mumbai, India) through Bandar-Abbas (Iran) to Astrakhan (Russia) and Baku (Azerbaijan) is expected to significantly reduce the time of cargo transportation from India to Central Asia and Russia.
