Russia, Turkey and Iran confirmed participation in next round of Syrian talks in Astana

Almaty. June 27. Silkroadnews – Russia, Turkey and Iran confirmed their participation in the Syrian talks to be held in Astana on July 4-5, foreign minister of Kazakhstan Kairat Abdrakhmanov reported, KazTAG writes.
“Regarding the upcoming Syrian talks within the framework of the Astana process to be held in Astana on July 4-5: we received confirmation on participation of all guarantors at the level of the special representative of the Russian president and special representatives of the foreign minister of the Russian Federation, deputy foreign ministers of Turkey and Iran. The UN Special Representative Staffan de Mistura, as well as the Jordanian delegation”, K. Abdrakhmanov said after meeting with Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Siyarto in Astana on Monday.
The US are also expected, he added, to delegate its high-ranking representative to participate as an observer.
“In the near future we expect the guarantors’ states to confirm the participation of the delegation of the Syrian government, as well as the Syrian armed opposition”, minister noted.
Earlier press service of the Kazakhstani foreign ministry reported, the participants plan to discuss the situation in Syria, realization of the agreements reached following the previous rounds of talks in Astana, including creation of de-escalation zones in Syria.
It is expected that the states-guarantors of cessation of hostilities – Iran, Russia and Turkey – will consider the documents regulating the parameters of de-escalation zones in Syria for their subsequent approval, as well as discuss issues of ensuring unhindered humanitarian access, restoration of infrastructure facilities within the framework of memorandum on de-escalation zones establishment in Syria.
The previous high-level meeting on Syria within the framework of the Astana process was held in Astana on May 3-4, 2017.
