SCO is expanding cooperation with Afghanistan in the fight against terrorism

Almaty. May 20. Silkroadnews - In Kabul signed a protocol on cooperation between Afghanistan and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in combating extremism and separatism, reported Afghan News Agency (AfTAG).
The document was signed by Deputy Foreign Minister of IRA Halil Hekmat Karzai and head of the delegation of the SCO Zhang Shifing.
The sides discussed topical issues of regional policy, including the current security challenges. The main threat was recognized as terrorism. The sides spoke in favor of promoting the exchange of operational information between law enforcement agencies in the region in the framework of counter-terrorism.
It is noted that Karzai praised the potential of the SCO in stabilizing the regional situation and expressed hope that his country will continue to obtain a possibility of full membership in the composition of this influential organization.
