“Four Chinese nationals and a Malaysian went missing after a Dominican-registered sand dredger collided with an Indonesian-registered tanker in Singaporean waters early Wednesday morning. After the collision, seven Chinese nationals aboard the dredger were rescued by the Singapore Police Coast Guard (PCG) and transferred to the Singapore General Hospital,” the report said.
According to the official representative of the Chinese embassy in Singapore, one of the rescued crew members has a rib fracture, the other six feel good. Search and rescue operations are still going on. Several vessels and a helicopter of the Air Force of Singapore have been deployed to search for the missing.
According to the information of the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore, the collision became known at about 12.40 a.m. Singapore time.
It is explained that the dredger, whose crew consisted of 11 nationals of China and one Malaysian, moved along the western line of the traffic separation scheme in Singapore Strait, and the Indonesian tanker was transiting the eastbound lane.
