Severe punishment required for both parents and their children when relatives of public figures involved in traffic accidents – Nazarbayev

Astana. March 27. Silkroadnews – President Nazarbayev thinks that severe punishment is required for both parents and their children, when relatives of prominent public figures are involved in traffic accidents.
“We’ve known plenty of situations when children of the prominent public figures were involved in traffic accidents. Everyone is equally accountable to the law. This is why severe punishment is required for both parents and their children in this kind of situations”, President Nazarbayev stated at the working session in Almaty.
The President has drawn special attention to the problem of traffic accidents in the city, as they now reach 7 000 cases a year. This represents a threefold increase.
President Nazarbayev also highlighted that only 80% of 53 000 crimes registered in Almaty have been solved. At the same time, teenage crime is on the rise.
The department of internal affairs has increased its staff to tackle those problems effectively. 500 positions still remain vacant.
