Shale gas production to be raised to 10 billion cubic meters per year in the south of the Sichuan province of China

Almaty. February 2. Silkroadnews – By 2020 the production of shale gas in the south of Sichuan Province (Southwest China) will be expanded to 10 billion cubic meters per year, the newspaper “People’s Daily” reports with reference to information by department of China National Petroleum Corporation in South-West China.

According to the plan, this year the preparation for shale gas production is scheduled in Sichuan, while in the second half of the year it is planned to launch the construction of new production facilities.

South of Sichuan is known for a number of promising shale gas fields considered to be one of the largest in the country.

During the 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-2020) for Sichuan it is planned to drill 600 new wells, one hundred of which to be developed later this year. Also in 2017 it is planned to build 19 drilling rigs to raise production of gas by 1.5 billion cubic meters.

The demonstration platform for shale gas production was built within the region with piping length of 220 km, 120 wells put into operation with annual production of more than 2.5 billion cubic meters.

Last year the company produced a total of 2.3 billion cubic meters of shale gas, which is 800 million cubic meters higher than the targets set.
