Beijing. March 1. Silkroadnews - South Korea summoned the Chinese ambassador on Tuesday to lodge a complaint over a Chinese military aircraft entering the South's air defence territory, the second such incident this year, Channel News Asia reported.
For more than four hours the Chinese aircraft flew within the zone of South Korea’s air defence identification, as a result South Korea had to send several fighters to track it.
China’s Ambassador Qiu Guohong said the flight of a military aircraft into South Korea’s airspace was unintentional and promised to prevent such cases from occurring again. Three other Chinese officials in South Korea have been summoned to the Ministry of Defense earlier in the day for an incident near the South Korean island of Ulleungdo off its eastern coast.
In turn, Chinese officials told South Korea’s military the aircraft’s movements had been part of regular military exercises, the report reads.
