Speaker of parliament was elected in Kyrgyzstan
Almaty. April 27. Silkroadnews – Speaker of parliament has been elected in Kyrgyzstan, KyrTAG reports.
“Chynybay Tursunbekov becomes Speaker of Parliament,” the statement said on Wednesday.
Earlier it was reported about two candidates for the speaker post: Chynybay Tursunbekov from SDPK party and Ishak Masaliev from “Onuguu-Progress” party.
Based on the secret voting C. Tursunbekov has been supported by 88 deputies, while his opponent Ishak Masaliev got 26 votes only. 3 deputies did not support both candidates.
C. Tursunbekov is one of the most influential politicians of Kyrgyzstan. In different years he served as the senior editor of the publishing house “Kyrgyzstan”, deputy dean of the department of Kyrgyz philology and journalism of the state national university of Kyrgyzstan, expert on Kyrgyzstan in agency under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, director of “Manas epics” branch, correspondent of “Liberty” radio in Turkey, general director of JSC “Bishkek milling plant”, president of the Union of entrepreneurs of the Kyrgyz Republic, deputy of the Jogorku Kenesh of V and VI convocations, leader of the parliamentary faction of the Social Democratic Party.
