Almaty. 7 June. Silkroadnews – Kazakhstan plans to deliver up to 80 thousand tonnes of mutton to China, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs (“Atameken”) Nurzhan Altayev said, KazTAG wrote.
“A protocol on import of mutton to China is expected to be signed within a month. Our enterprises have been checked by the Chinese inspection. Now the mutton market opens for us. Next year we plan to raise the export of this meat to 80 thousand tonnes per year”, N. Altayev said at the meeting of the business council of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization on Wednesday.
He noted the serious competition Kazakhstan will run into at the Chinese market.
“It is clear that for mutton we have a serious competitor – Australia, yet you need to understand they import frozen mutton. We have our own niche – chilled fresh mutton. This niche is free for us”, N. Altayev pointed out.
To remind, last year the Vice Minister of Agriculture of Kazakhstan Gulmira Isaeva reported on the planned export of meat to China.
“The volumes that we plan to deliver range within 50-60 thousand tonnes of beef and up to 300 thousand tonnes of mutton per year”, she said in October 2016.
