State drug control service to be abolished in Kyrgyzstan

Almaty. July 4. Silkroadnews – State drug control service will be abolished in Kyrgyzstan, Kyrgyz Defence Council Secretary Temir Jumakadyrov said, KyrTAG writes.

“We were to remove duplicate functions, departments and state agencies, optimize resources for each specific area. The analysis revealed in fight against illegal drug turnover results by the ministry of internal affairs are several times higher compared to ones by the state drug control service,” T. Jumakadyrov said at the press conference on Monday.

In 2015 crime detection rate for the state drug control service is 18%, for the same period the Ministry of internal affairs solved nearly 80% of such crimes. As for seizure of drugs in 2015, the state drug control service’s results are 17.8%, while the ministry shows 81.2%.

“We were to assign one agency to deal with this problem. The decision was to transfer fully the state drug control service as a department to the Ministry of internal affairs as a separate department,” the Defence council secretary said.
