Switzerland to grant USD 13.5 million in water infrastructure of northern Tajikistan

Dushanbe. March 14. Silkroadnews – Switzerland is to give USD 13.5 million for the renovation of water infrastructure in Nothern Tajikistan, TajikTA reports.
“Tajikistan and Switzerland’s office for partnerships signed a grant agreement in Sogdia region. The two projects under agreement have an estimated value of USD 23 million. USD 13.5 million of that is a grant from the Switzerland’s office for partnership in the RT. The remaining USD 9.5 million is the EBRD credit”, said in the Ministry of Finance.
The project aims to improve water infrastructure in Istaravshan, Panjakent, Zafarabad [NB Tajik one, not Indian one], Shahristan [NB Tajik one, not Afghan one] and Northern region in general. The Khudjant WWTP is also to be renovated.
