Tajik-American relations discussed in Dushanbe
Dushanbe. June 3. Silkroadnews – Tajik President Emomali Rahmon held a meeting with US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs, Nisha Desai Biswal. The parties discussed development of their cooperation in areas of politics, regional security, economy, investment, scientific and technical innovation. This was reported by the Press Office of Tajik President.
Nisha Biswal is visiting Tajikistan within the framework of annual political consultations between Tajikistan and the United States of America.
Special attention was devoted to the issues of regional security. In particular, to the Afghanistan situation that is to be anticipated as a result of withdrawal of NATO forces from the country.
Nisha Biswal also talked about readiness of the US to support border control forces of Tajikistan, as well as any other forces that are meant to fight extremism, terrorism, illicit drug trafficking and transnational crimes.
The issues of energy, agriculture, environmental protection, education and human rights and freedoms were also touched upon during the meeting.
