Tajikistan and Japan to cooperate to combat drug trafficking

Almaty. August 22. Silkroadnews – Tajikistan and Japan plan to cooperate in fight against drug trafficking, Tajik Telegraph Agency (TajikTA) reported.

«Tajikistan and Japan discussed the issues of cooperation in training of Drug Control Agency (DCA) staff, social rehabilitation of drug addicted persons, carrying out seminars, trainings, round tables, social surveys, organizing sport events, as well as issues of publication of specialized literature and construction of social facilities in the border areas with Afghanistan», Tajikistan's DCA department of public relations reported.

Discussion was held in Dushanbe at the meeting of Head of Tajikistan's DCA Sherkhon Salimzoda with Japanese Ambassador to Tajikistan Hajime Kitaoka.

The head of the agency told the guest about the drug situation, its development trends and forecasts, major routes of drug trafficking and drug-related crimes in the Republic of Tajikistan compared with Central Asian countries, and also presented the DCA goals, objectives and structure.
