Almaty. July 18. Silkroadnews –  Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan will agree on new sites of state border until the end of 2016, Tajik Telegraph Agency (TajikTA) reports.

“The Tajik-Kyrgyz commission on the state border delimitation and demarcation shall agree on new sites of the state border before the end of this year. The Commission is working on this issue”, Iftikhor Dzhurazoda, head of Tajikistan’s Department on state inspection, surveying, delimitation and demarcation under the State committee of land management and geodesy, said to reporters at the press conference on Monday.

Out of 971km of the state border with Kyrgyzstan 519.9 km have been agreed at the present day.

With this I. Dzhurazoda did not specify exactly what are the sites and their length in case, he only said that this information will become available as soon as the parties arrive at a decision.

To remind, the issue of delimitation of the state border with Kyrgyzstan became a subject of discussion in the late 1990-s. Yet, the parties have not reached a consensus decision on some disputed sections. Both countries say it is a complex process, as it requires to study the archives of several countries reflected in the topographic maps.

Chairman of Tajikistan’s State committee of land management and geodesy Rajabboi Ahmadzoda refuted information saying some of the disputed areas to be transferred to Kyrgyzstan and noted that the Tajik-Kyrgyz commission on the state border delimitation and demarcation is working on this issue.
