Almaty. January 9. Silkroadnews - Tajikistan in 2014 produced about 870 thousand tons of coal, reported Tajik news agency (TajikTA) on Friday.
This amount of coal was mined by 18 companies that worked last year at 14 coal mines of the country. 75% of the mined coal accounts for state-owned enterprises.
The increase in coal production is mainly due to the transition from the industrial use of natural gas and electricity to coal fuel.
According to information, the indicators of coal last year are higher than the same period in 1991 by about 561 thousand tons.
Prior to Tajikistan's independence, coal production in the country is only 309 thousand tons.
