Tajikistan is still the most dependent on the resources of migrants - Report
Almaty. October 23. Silkroadnews - Tajikistan is still the most dependent on the resources of migrants from Central Asia, reports the Tajik news agency (TajikTA) on Friday.
"Tajikistan - the most remittance-dependent country in Central Asia", - follows from the joint report of the Eurasian Development Bank, United Nations Development Programme and the Russian Academy of Sciences "Labor migration, remittances and human development in Central Asia".
The ratio of remittances to GDP for Tajikistan is more than 40%, Kyrgyzstan - 30%. And Uzbekistan are the least dependent on migrants' money, but the leader in terms of remittances and the number of migrants.
Kazakhstan itself accepts migrants, although not on such a scale as Russia.
As of mid-2015 the citizens of Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan accounted for one third of the 11 million foreign nationals, officially registered in the Russian Federation. In particular, about 367 thousand Tajik citizens received permission to work in Russia.
It is also noted that the majority of migrants from Central Asia go to work to Russia not out of a desire, but by necessity, and do not wish to stay there forever (forced migration).
For example, Tajiks go to work to provide for their families existence.
At the same time, migrants occupy niches in the labor market that are not in demand or low demand for Russian citizens. Migrant workers play the role of a "buffer" in the labor market of the Russian Federation, as in many other developed countries: they are the first to lose their jobs as lower demand for labor as a result of the economic downturn.
Another powerful factor in migration - a huge inequality in income (and salary) between Russia and the Central Asian countries.
Recall, for 6 months of 2015 from Russia to Tajikistan transfered $696 million, compared to the same period in 2014, this number decreased by 58.6%.
