Almaty. January 9. Silkroadnews – Tajikistan may join the EEU after thorough study of neighboring states’ experience, Tajik Telegraph Agency (TajikTA) reports on Monday.

“Tajikistan may join the Eurasian Economic Union only after thorough study of the experience of neighboring countries members of this organization”, director of the Center for Strategic Studies under the President of Republic of Tajikistan Hudoberdi Kholiknazarov said.

Data by the Center for Strategic Studies say, at present Tajikistan still examines the issue of possible joining the union.

Tajikistan needs to study the experience of Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan that entered the Union, study their successes or failures.

Earlier it was reported that Tajikistan’s accession to the EEU was considered by a special commission and submitted to the country’s government.

Meanwhile, a study by the Eurasian Development Bank says last year public support for the potential accession of Tajikistan to the EEU dropped to 68%.
