Almaty. April 13. Silkroadnews - Tajikistan plans to increase electricity exports to Kyrgyzstan and Afghanistan by 20%, reported the Tajik news agency (TajikTA).
As noted, preliminary analyzes showed overflights and large stocks of snow and moisture in the highlands of the country. The year is expected abounding. In this connection, it is possible to increase the power production and reduce the idle discharge of water from the reservoirs.
At the present, goverment is in active negotiations with Afghanistan and Kyrgyzstan on the increase of electricity supply.
As recalled TajikTA, last year to Afghanistan and Kyrgyzstan exported more than 1.3 billion KWh of electricity, most of which was delivered to Afghanistan by 3.7 US cents. To Kyrgyzstan electricity was supplied by 2 US cents.
Tajik Energy emphasize that in the summer, the running water on the Vakhsh River is more than 2 thousand cubic meters per second, and in the generation of electricity consumed about 700 cubic meters. A small portion of the water is used to fill the Nurek reservoir.
Annual idle discharge of water in Tajikistan in the summer season is equivalent to the production of more than 4.5-5 billion KWh of electricity.
