Tajikistan’s 2030 development strategy to change the GDP structure

Almaty. January 9. Silkroadnews – Tajikistan’s 2030 National Development Strategy provides for the country’s transition from agro-industrial to industrial-agrarian model, Tajik Telegraph Agency (TajikTA) reports on Monday.

“With this it is planned to change the appropriate GDP ratios, as at present the share of agricultural product accounts for 23-25%, while the industrial index share stands at 12% only”, deputy director of the Center for Strategic Studies under the President of Tajikistan Farida Muminova said.

Thus, as she explained, the country plans to raise the industrial production and production of competitive products, both for the domestic market and for export. The strategy places special importance on the construction sector, training and investment.

According to the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan, the document developed still adheres to three earlier announced national priority objectives – to provide for energy and food security, as well as to end the country’s communication isolation.

It was noted that further stages of the development program are expected to focus on transition from energy independence to the efficient use of electricity. With getting out from the communication deadlock the country will face a new challenge of how to turn into the transit country. And with the food security objective achieved a priority will be given to provide the population with access to high quality food.
