Tajikistan’s parliament ratified the agreement on the establishment of 300 MW “Shurob” TPP

Almaty. April 15. Silkroadnews – The deputies of Tajik parliament ratified a concession agreement on the construction of “Shurob” TPP in the village Shurob of Isfara province, Tajik Telegraph Agency (TajikTA) informs.
“The lower house of the Tajik parliament ratified the concession agreement between the Government of Tajikistan and HOS International Trading SDN BHD company”, the publication says.

The chairman of the state committee on investments and state property management of the republic Kodiri Qosim noted the concession agreement defines the relationship between the Government of Tajikistan and the above-mentioned companies.

According to K. Qosim, the project on construction of 300 MW thermal power station shall be realized through $400 million direct investment.

The final cost of the project will be determined as soon as the feasibility report is completed. There will be two feasibility reports prepared – for the reconstruction and use of the productive capacity of “Angisht” JSC and the construction of “Shurob” HPP. These works shall be completed within a year.

According to the agreement the investor company will develop the coal mine for 30 years. Sales of the electricity produced by the TPP will be conducted through the state energy holding “Barki Tojik”.
