Tajikistan’s petroleum products import fell around 12% in the first quarter

Almaty. May 5. Silkroadnews – Petroleum products import fell around 12% in Tajikistan in the first quarter, Tajik Telegraph Agency (TajikTA) reported on Friday.

“Tajikistan continues reducing imports of petroleum products, while increasing the import of liquefied gas. In the first quarter of the year the volume of imports of petroleum products fell by about 12%, and liquefied gas increased by around 3%”, the statement by the customs service under the government of the Republic of Tajikistan says.

According to the data, over the first three months of the year Tajikistan has imported 122 000 tonnes of petroleum products to the amount of $75 million, with 1 tonne of fuel sold for $574 as average within this period.

For the same period of last year around 139 000 tonnes of petroleum products were imported to the republic to the amount of $75 million. Thus, the cost of fuel supplied to Tajikistan grew $37 per year on average.

Within the structure of petroleum products imported to the country over the first quarter of the year there are motor gasoline (about 58 thousand tonnes) and diesel fuel (more than 43 thousand tonnes) prevailing. The volume of jet fuel delivered to the republic during this period amounted to more than 10 thousand tonnes, fuel oil – 7 thousand tonnes, and lubricating oils – more than 3 thousand tonnes.

It should be noted that oil products to Tajikistan for the above-mentioned time have been imported from 11 states of the near and far abroad, with overwhelming volume delivered from Russia – 111 thousand tonnes.

Meanwhile, in January-March Tajikistan also received more than 86 thousand tonnes of liquefied gas for about $39 million. This type of fuel imports increased by 2.9% in volume and by 2.1% in value.
More than 90% of liquefied gas to Tajikistan comes from Kazakhstan.
