Tajikistan’s Rogun HPP first stage shall start operation in 2018

Almaty. July 7. Silkroadnews – The first stage of the Rogun HPP in Tajikistan will start operation in 2018, representatives of the Italian company Salini Impregilo said, TajikTA reports.

The first stage of the Rogun HPP in Tajikistan will start operation in 2018, said the Italian company Salini Impregilo, which won the tender for the power facility completion. The second unit of the plant is scheduled to start operation in October of the same year.

The operation of the Rogun HPP is expected to increase significantly Tajikistan’s electricity production.
“Plans for the start of the HPP first stage in 2018 are related to the sale of electricity generated by its two units, followed by investing the proceeds received to continue the object construction,” says the publication.

As reported, the first stage of Rogun construction requires $1.95 billion the company to receive in accordance with the agreement signed with the Government.

As a whole Rogun HPP is planned to be completed in 13 years. For this purpose, the authorities of Tajikistan committed to allocate $3.9 billion.

The construction of Rogun HPP is divided into three stages. The agreement between Salini Impregilo and the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan to begin the construction of the first stage of the hydroelectric power station was signed on July1. Arrangements on the completion of the remaining two stages of the object are to be achieved until September 30 of this year.
