Almaty. December 28. Silkroadnews - Tajikistan still eliminates windsquall consequences in northern regions, the Tajik Telegraph Agency (TajikTA) reports on Thursday.
Consequences of the squally wind that hit Khujand and some areas of the Sughd region of Tajikistan overnight December 26 into December 27 have not been completely eliminated. Reportedly, the squally wind and wet snow caused accidents at 4 substations, thus, thousands of residents of cities and villages do not have electricity, the press office of the regional Commission for Emergency Situations headquarter informed.
According to the source, rescuers eliminated accidents in some areas of Khujand and restored power supply to medical institutions and administrative buildings.
40 wooden transmission towers, dozens of trees, roofs of apartment houses, administrative buildings, schools and hospitals have been torn down.
Earlier it was reported that in Khujand the wind tore off a 16-meter New Year’s tree set in the center of the city, broke glasses in the windows of houses and shop windows. Few educational institutions, suffering damage as a result of weather conditions, announced vacation.
According to the experts, the Sughd region has not experienced such a squally wind over the last 40 years.
