It then plans to completely fall under that air defence umbrella, as Kazakh Deputy Minister of Defence Okas Saparov stated at the working session of the committee on international relations, defence and security this Tuesday.
“There is a principal agreement that the Republic of Kyrgyzstan and the Republic of Tajikistan are to fall under our [air defence] system”, he concluded.
Joint air defence system is being created to protect territorial sovereignty and independence of both countries, as Deputy Minister Saparov explained. He noted though that the joint air defence system is to be used only in times of war.
The headquarters of the joint air defence system is to be located in Almaty. A representative of Kazakhstan is to head that system.
