Tajikistan to raise nitrogen fertilizers output up to 820 thousand tonnes

Almaty. April 18. Silkroadnews – Tajikistan plans raising the production of nitrogen fertilizers – carbamide and ammonia – up to 820 thousand tonnes, the Tajik Telegraph Agency (TajikTA) reports.

“Сarbamide and ammonia output is planned to grow up to 820 000 tonnes in Tajikistan through 2020”, the report said.

The objective is to be archived after the completion of the first and second phases of the project for reconstruction and restoration of a nitrogen fertilizer production plant on the basis of OJSC “Azot”, in the city of Sarband, Khatlon region, under foreign direct investments.

The first phase realization is expected to take 1.5 years and estimated at 2.9 billion somoni ($341 million). The second phase of the project provides for three years of construction to the amount of 325 million somoni ($38.2 million).

The plant used to provide jobs to more than 1200 people.
