Tajikistan to revisit policy on micro hydroelectricity systems, as efficiency causes concerns

Dushanbe. March 26. Silkroadnews – The policy on micro hydroelectric systems construction is to be revisited, as the source in the energy sector of Tajikistan reports.
As the source reports, it was previously required that chosen rivers have enough water for power generation during summertime. It will now be required that the rivers have enough water to generate power during wintertime as well for the projects to be approved.
This amendment to the policy intends to increase efficiency by ensuring around-the-year power generation. Moreover, increased attention is to be devoted to purchasing new equipment that would enable construction of micro hydroelectric systems that don’t require high water pressure to generate power.
