Almaty. May 20. Silkroadnew - armed forces of "Taliban" are very close to the borders of Tajikistan, informed the Tajik news agency (TajikTA) on Wednesday.
As noted, the armed forces of the movement "Taliban", took over the control of almost 80% of the province of Badakhshan, which is bordering Tajikistan.
Fights are on the perimeter of the boundary on Badakhshan and Panj directions, sometimes at a distance of gunfire from the Tajik border villages.
"The Taliban have no intention to cross the border of Tajikistan. However, as preventive measures in some of the most vulnerable areas created a second line of defense in the face of the armed forces of the country", - said the source.
He did not rule out the probability of the presence of militants from "Islamic State".
"We are closely monitoring the operational situation and are ready for any development of the situation, while hoping for the support of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO)", - said the representative of Tajik special services.
According to him, "now to the border region with Afghanistan, in the framework of a sudden check of the combat readiness of the CSTO and the subsequent anti-terrorism exercises, deployed some equipment and appliances" of collective rapid reaction forces.
Issues related to the regional security and the situation in Afghanistan will be discussed at a meeting of the Security Council Secretaries of CSTO member states which will be held on May 19-20 in Khujand.
