Taliban opposition faction supports Indonesian conference on Afghan peace process

Beijing. March 19. Silkroadnews - Representatives of the Taliban’s faction led by Mullah Mohammad Rasool expressed their support for the conference on the Afghan crises settlement to be held in Indonesia with participation of the delegations of the ulema (theologians) of Afghanistan and Pakistan, the Afghan Telegraph Agency (AfTAG) reports.
The statement, released by the group, notes the peace in Afghanistan could be restored only through the mediation of the religious activists.
According to Pajhwok news agency, in their statement the Taliban members expressed their gratitude to Indonesia for organizing the conference on the Afghan peace process scheduled for March 15. Yet, the Indonesian side decided to postpone the event to the second half of the month to allow the Taliban to take part in the conference.
